Welcoming a Baby in Mount Sinai Hospital, Totonto - 24 Hours After Birth

I started this year with photographing Fresh 48 session in Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. I have been to this hospital many times, captured tiny newborns and seen happy first or second time parents. Interestingly, every family has a unique story.

This new mom had to be c-section due to baby’s breach position, but as hospital was so busy, she was scheduled one day past her due date for the surgery. It is very stressful not to have a set date for the surgery until the very last moment, but this mamma handled the situation very well, stayed calm and positive.

When I entered the room, I saw this young mom breastfeeding her newborn. Tiredness was visible on her face, but her smile was showing the inside happiness. What I really like about this Fresh 48 session was the connection between the young couple, and I tried to photograph it in that one hour. Their baby girl was born safely, named “Soraya” a beautiful Arabic name means “Star” . She is loved by her young parents.
