Having a c-section can be a different experience from a natural birth, and it's important for new moms to be well-prepared for their hospital stay. As I experienced C-section myself, I thought I list the must-have items for new moms booked for a c-section to bring to the hospital.
Comfortable Clothing: Bring loose-fitting and comfortable clothing to wear after the surgery. I preferred a beautiful robe which was easy to breastfeed my newborn and also not bothering my dressing.
Pillows: Having at least two pillows can help you get comfortable in bed and support your incision while you rest or breastfeed your baby.
Camera: You'll want to capture the very first moments with your new baby.
Nursing Bras: If you plan to breastfeed, be sure to bring a comfortable nursing bra.
Sanitary Products: You'll need sanitary pads to absorb the bleeding that occurs after the surgery. Be sure to pack enough to last you a few days. Usually, moms after c-section have to stay in the hospital for 48 hours.
Maternity undies: These give you support and comfort on your incision site.
Make up bag: You may want to wear a light make up when taking photos with your newborn. As a photographer, whenever I shoot a Fresh 48 session, moms always wanted to have some make up before I start their photo session.
Toiletries: Don't forget to pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, towels (you can take shower 24 hours after giving birth)& body wash.
Phone Charger: Make sure to bring a phone charger with you so you can stay connected with family and friends.
Comfortable Shoes/ Slippers: Some moms will experience swollen feet after C-section. depending on the season, you may want to have loose shoe or slipper to walk around or even when it is time to leave the hospital.
Be sure to pack these items well in advance of your surgery so you have one less thing to worry about on the day of your c-section.
